examination protocol

reception-area
On your arrival at the hospital please report at the reception counter for your registration. The necessary documentation and formalities will be carried out by the front desk executives after which you will await your turn.
A preliminary examination will be carried out by qualified optometrists and if found necessary, drops will be instilled in your eyes to dilate the pupils for a detailed and comprehensive assessment. You will then be examined by the doctor and if required, additional tests will be carried out to arrive at a diagnosis.
You will have to be ready to remain in the hospital for a total of around one hour for complete examination.
Though we try our best to schedule & see you on time, you may get delayed more than usual due to the nature of the profession. We seek your cooperation.
Here’s what patients can generally expect when they come for a check up.
Pre – examination:

The eye care professional will ask you some questions about your general health and any eye-related symptoms you may be experiencing. They may also ask about your medical history, including any medications you’re taking.

Vision tests:

You’ll typically undergo several vision tests to assess your visual acuity and check for any refractive errors, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. You’ll be asked to read letters from an eye chart or to identify images of shapes or letters at different distances.

Eye muscle function:

The eye care professional will assess your eye muscle function by asking you to follow a moving object with your eyes or to focus on a specific point.

Pupil dilation:

In some cases, the eye care professional may dilate your pupils to get a better view of the inside of your eyes. This involves putting eye drops into your eyes that cause your pupils to become larger.

Eye pressure test:

This test measures the pressure inside your eye, which can help detect glaucoma.

Eye health evaluation:

The eye care professional will examine the inside of your eye, including the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels. They may use a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to look inside your eye.

Discussion of results:

Once the examination is complete, the eye care professional will discuss the results of your tests with you and make recommendations for any necessary follow-up care.

It’s important to note that the specific tests and procedures you undergo during an eye checkup may vary depending on your individual needs and any underlying eye conditions you may have. Your eye care professional will work with you to tailor the examination to your specific needs and provide you with personalized care.
